Malt
A stone throw from the Auckland’s
city centre you will find a flourishing little strip
of shops known as West Lynn. And in the heart of these
shops you will find Malt, another of the Monteith’s
stable of drinking and dining destinations throughout
New Zealand.
Malt is positioned as ‘the local on the corner’
capturing the essence of its community through its décor,
tap beer and menu.
The bar provides an environment where you can experience
good food and great beer along with fantastic New Zealand
hospitality. The bar seats 70 inside with an additional
50 able to be seated outside in a courtyard enclosed
within brush stick fencing. The interior décor
calls upon strong heritage connections, making use of
restored natural kauri for the floorboards and walls,
leather booths and a library-like lounge setting in
front of a fireplace.
The rustic décor reflects Malt’s down-to-earth
menu, with simple Kiwi favourites such as fish and chips,
as well as more upmarket meals including Monteith’s
beer stew with green beans and garlic mash, chicken
breast stuffed with brie and pancetta, and lamb shanks
in rich jus gravy.
