Juicy description
A profound enveloping winter beer, Monteiths
Doppelbock Bier is a smoothly rich beer with a dense
head, a powerful aroma, and chocolately malt notes ~
the perfect way to cheer yourself up this winter.
Doppelbock Bier was originally brewed in Bavaria back
in the 1600s to provide nourishment during the
traditional German fasting periods ~ hence affectionately
nicknamed ~ Liquid Bread.
For these reasons, Doppelbock was deliberately brewed
to exceed what had previously been the strongest type
of beer ~ Bock. Monteiths Doppelbock Bier has
an original gravity of 18° Plato and a final
gravity of 5° Plato.
A winter-warmer brew, Monteiths Doppelbock is
characterised by its smooth rich start, rounded body
and long finish. Its full-malty flavour is the outcome
of lovingly-crafted four premium malts.
Monteiths Doppelbock blends traditional German
Munich-malts with a pilsner malt and just a hint of
dark malt which delectably delivers a voluptuous beer
with a winter fires red hue.
True to its origin Monteiths Doppelbock is subtly
hopped by local varieties of the classic German Hallertau
hop, typical in Bock-styled beers. This delivers a moderate
to high bitterness of 35, but this is mellowed
on the palate by the full- flavour of the malts.
These hearty flavours are accentuated by the beers
seven percent alcohol content, offering a generous and
profound finish and ensuring you warmth throughout the
winter months.
Monteiths Doppelbock Bier is the perfect pre-dinner
beer and can be magnificently matched with rich game
foods, such as pheasant, venison and wild pork ~ a Bavarian
favourite!
