Monteith's Bright & Bracing SAISON BIERE

MONTEITH’S BRIGHT & BRACING SAISON BIERE is a traditional style originating from French-speaking southern Belgium. It has been allowed to develop its flavours during the warm days of summer in preparation for the coming autumn. Saison’s unique golden amber hue and strong hop flavour is tinged with a sweet spiciness supported by fruity and malty aromas.

Juicy description

Monteith’s limited-release Saison Biere has been brewed to celebrate the autumn harvest in New Zealand and the heritage of beer from French speaking southern Belgium.

As summer approached in days gone by, brewing efforts were often halted and beers were then cellared over the warmer months. Hopefully some survived the thirst of summer to be enjoyed during the festivals of autumn.

The Saison style is known for its unique golden amber hue and strong hop flavour which is tinged with a sweet spiciness and offers fruity and malty aromas.

Monteith’s Saison Biere has an equally distinctive aroma and a hugely intriguing mouth feel with pleasing raisin-like notes complemented by the slightly tart citrus notes of Monteith’s exclusively grown Saaz hop. This beer will delight and surprise people not used to these unusual hop flavours.

Monteith’s has used its own special hop variety to create Saison Biere which is infused with fruity and spicy highlights supported by a range of malts.

As with the origins of the classic Belgian-styled beer, Monteith’s Saison Biere has been allowed to develop its flavours during the warm days of summer in preparation for the coming autumn’s enjoyment. This beer is not pasteurized which allows it to better retain its natural flavour and heritage.

Monteith’s Saison Biere is a striking example of the autumn beers of old Belgium and the perfect match for dishes such as duck, hearty stews and spicy sausages.

The Full Facts

Monteith’s Saison Biere has an original gravity (OG) of 1052, alcohol content of 5.5 % and a final gravity of 1010. This combination provides a radiant malty base for the exclusive hops to top off. The result is a beer that can truly be described as ‘unique’.

Monteith’s Saison Biere has a medium, high-perceived bitterness of 25 but the exceptionally rare hop tang is clearly the highlight.
