Rules

IT'S IMPORTANT THAT YOU READ THE FOLLOWING RULES CAREFULLY

  1. Each participating outlet is required to invent, creatively name and then prepare a main dish with at least two primary ingredients sourced from within a 100km radius of the outlet’s premises. All ingredients must be sourced from New Zealand. The dish must be matched to a Monteith’s beer.
  2. There are four ways to make your dish meet the criteria of ‘wild’:
    • The first is to source the wildest of LOCAL ingredients you can; keeping in mind anything you use in your dish must come from a certified supplier.
    • The second is to take a more readily available ingredient such as venison or other game meats and prepare it in a ‘wild' manner.
    • The third way is to get wild in the way you serve the entry or garnish your dish.
    • The fourth way is to use a combination of the above.
  3. You may select from one of the following Monteith’s beers to match with each dish:
    • Monteith’s Original Ale
    • Monteith’s Golden Lager
    • Monteith’s Celtic Red Beer
    • Monteith’s Pilsner Beer
    • Monteith’s Black Beer
    • Monteith’s Radler Bier
    • Monteith’s New Zealand Lager
    • OPTIONAL: Monteith’s Doppelbock Winter Ale
  4. The price of each dish must include a glass or bottle of the matched Monteith’s beer. A name and description of each dish, coupled with the beer you have chosen to accompany it, must be received by the organisers no later than 4pm, 18 May 2009. This will ensure your restaurant and dishes feature in all Monteith’s Wild Food and Beer Challenge promotional material.
  5. Entry into the Monteith’s Beer & Wild Food Challenge will only be accepted online at www.monteiths.co.nz.
  6. The judging will take place from the moment the Challenge launches on 1st June 2009 through to and inclusive of 26th July 2009. From the 1st June, the general public will be incentivised to visit your outlet and vote via their mobile phone on your Challenge dish and match. They will score you on the level of innovation and adventure that you show in your dish, as well as scoring you on how good the beer match is.
  7. The Challenge dish must be part of your lunch and dinner menu for the entire duration of the competition. If for any reason the Dish is not available when the judges visit your establishment, you will be disqualified.
  8. MBWFC will use innovative technology enabling us to reward people with 2 complimentary Monteith’s beers via their mobile phone through your EFTPOS system. This technology requires a simple integration with your EFTPOS machine prior to the start of the promotion. If you decide to register your outlet in the challenge, you’ll need to complete and return the Fax Back Form by 4.00pm 18th May 2009.
  9. A one off fee of $120 is required by your outlet for the technology integration with your EFTPOS system, enabling the use of POCKETvouchers.
  10. Post Monteith’s Beer & Wild Food Challenge, DB Breweries will have exclusive use of this technology within the beer category.
  11. The POCKETvoucher offer of 2 complimentary Monteith’s beer is for a 330ml bottle of Monteith’s or Monteith’s 330ml glass serving only. Stock will be replaced at cost with a DB credit. The offer of 2 complimentary Monteith’s is only valid Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in your outlet.
  12. The highest scoring outlets across the country – as independently voted for by the public – will receive a visit from Kerry Tyack, head Judge for the Monteith’s Beer & Wild Food Challenge together with one other judge between the 13th and 26th July. These judges will then confirm the highest scoring six semi-finalists who will need to be available on the 10th August for the live cook off – an event to determine the National winner of the 2009 Monteith’s Beer and Wild Food Challenge.
  13. The LIVE “Cook Off” Challenge will take place on Monday 10th August. The highest scoring six finalists must be available to attend and prepare their Challenge dish LIVE for the judges. Unavailability will constitute a default and the next highest scoring outlet will take the position. The semi-finalists will also need to prepare and supply, free of charge, their Wild dish for photographic purposes to be used as publicity leading up to the LIVE “Cook Off”.
  14. Participants must agree to utilise the Monteith’s Beer & Wild Food Challenge promotional material supplied including the table talker with voting instructions, and marks will be awarded for the quality of the promotion of the Monteith’s Beer & Wild Food Challenge in your outlet.
  15. Where tables are pre-set in an outlet, they should be done so with a Monteith’s beer glass on the table.
  16. All prizes are non-transferable and must be redeemed by 31st October 2009.
  17. If you win the National Competition, your Challenge dish must remain on your menu for at least four weeks following the winner’s announcement. This is to ensure that you receive maximum media exposure and benefit from your win.
  18. At the conclusion of the Monteith’s Beer & Wild Food Challenge, semi-finalists can receive judges’ feedback on your entry by calling the convenor of judges, Kerry Tyack, on (09) 837 4243.
  19. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
