Plateau
lateau is a classic New Zealand meeting
place for locals and visitors alike. It combines the
warmth and natural beauty of leather, stone and wood
with contemporary artwork to create a unique environment
for meeting, drinking and eating with friends, family
and colleagues.
This new bar and restaurant is a welcome addition to
the growing and developing scene in Taupo. Its owners
will give you a typical central North Island experience,
combining beauty and excellence with a friendly local
feel.
Plateau has a vibrant menu especially created by Christopher
Johnston, owner of the iconic Replete café, and
beautifully prepared by Steven Doole. The menu is designed
to showcase New Zealand’s fresh food, offering
both classic and favourite fare. Examples from the menu,
which will be updated regularly, include Lamb Rack on
Cauliflower and Parmesan Mash with Tomato, Olives and
Green Beans.
As well as showcasing the best of New Zealand cuisine,
Plateau also showcases some of New Zealand’s best
beers with the full range of Monteith’s fine ales
and lagers available. For each of the main meals on
the menu a suggested beer match is provided, educating
you on the delights of matching beer with food.
Kevin, Neb and the rest of the service team bring European
and American flair and training to a truly New Zealand
experience. They are dedicated to your drinking and
dining pleasure and will do everything to make your
time at Plateau memorable, entertaining and fun.
Plateau offers an a la carte restaurant with full service,
a more relaxed casual dining and drinking area and a
cosy fireside area for drinks, dessert or gossip! In
addition there is an outside area, warmed by a stylish
fireplace, for summer evenings.
Plateau has available a private dining room which is
perfect for family groups, business meetings and small
conferences. This area can be separately serviced or
you can select self service. It has broadband access,
a telephone and projection facilities if required. Plateau
can cater to groups and provide tailored menus and spaces
as well.
Whether you prefer chatting to the barman at the bar,
eating in a stylish restaurant or having some private
space, Plateau can offer you a warm, friendly experience
of excellence.
